The Map

Figure 1 (below) displays the first screen you will see when you begin using the CEA Tools.

On the right side of this and all subsequent screens is a map. Whatever area you see displayed in the map will appear in the report maps you generate at Step 5. When you first enter the tools, the whole province of Ontario is displayed. Once you have reached Step 5, there are a few ways to change the map to show your desired area. To move east, west, north or south, click on any of the eight arrows in the border of the map to pan in various directions.

You will also see five "radio buttons" at the top of the map: Zoom-in, Zoom-out, Zoom to Full Extent, Zoom Back to Last Extent and Pan.

• Clicking on the map when the Zoom-In option is selected will centre and zoom in the location you've selected. The map's scale will also change so that the area of the province seen in the map screen is smaller.
• Clicking on the map when the Zoom-Out option is selected will centre and zoom out the location you've selected. The map's scale will also change so that the area of the province seen in the map screen is larger.
• Clicking on the Zoom to Full Extent option zooms out to the full extent of Ontario.
• Clicking on the Back to Last Extent option zooms to the previous extent.
• Clicking on the Pan option allows you to and drag the display window to move the extent to the part you want displayed.
  

When you have reached Step 4 in the tools, a Zoom-to option will appear below the name of your selected community/region. Clicking on Zoom-to will take you directly to the selected community and the map will only display that community and the adjacent communities or regions.

Labels: The names of communities may not all appear on the map, due to labeling restrictions. Sometimes, a community will be labeled when you zoom in, but then the label will disappear when you zoom out to a larger area.
