| Ontario's municipalities possess downtowns that are unique, diverse and rich in history and architectural heritage. Our downtowns have traditionally functioned as the center of our communities – the place where people come to shop, do business, and participate in social and cultural activities. Our downtowns have been impacted by changing economies, consumer shopping patterns and retailing trends. In order to remain viable, Ontario's downtowns will need to implement comprehensive, aggressive strategies for revitalization. The implementation of these steps has lead to many successful downtown revitalization efforts.
